Fixed-broadband availability, technology (fiber), advertised speeds, and provider counts: FCC Form 477, June 2021 — the last comprehensive FCC deployment snapshot before the current Broadband Data Collection (BDC), from opendata.fcc.gov. Shown at two levels: by county, and — because broadband is a neighborhood-by-neighborhood story — by census tract, aggregating Form 477's 2010-block data to its native 2010 tracts, drawn as boundaries from the Census TIGER 2010 tract map (distances use tract centroids from the Census 2019 Gazetteer). Figures describe the areas that report service, so they don't capture truly unserved locations, nor household adoption/affordability (which needs ACS). Counties and tracts are each shown as a percentile among their peers statewide. Coming next: the current BDC 2024 location-level map (unserved locations), adoption & affordability from ACS, and measured speeds.
